Presidential Bus

Inaugural parade-tag
Construction on the bus began in 1994 and finished in 1995. It was contructed for my wife and I, and we intended to use it to go live in Alaska for awhile. Time went by, the bus sat in the garage, and one day I had a conversation with my friend Bob Turner. Bob said that if I was not going to go to Alaska right away, why not use the bus to help Congressman Bill Zeliff campaign for New Hampshire Governor? So I did, and we spent the summer of 1995 driving around New Hampshire, doing parades and other events. Bill unfortunately lost, but the bus was well received, so I decided to help with Phil Gramm's run for President. This took us into fall of 1996, and after that the bus stayed happily in its garage through late 1997, except for an occasional outing.

When campaign season 1997 rolled around, the bus worked for various candidates for state office, making the occasional parade, and weekend campaign swings. Then back into the garage until late 1999.

When campaign season 1999 rolled around, the bus campaigned for Lamar Alexander. When George Bush announced his candidacy, Alexander withdrew his candidacy and the bus immediately threw in with Governor Bush.

Inaugural parade-street The bus campaigned extensively throughout the state of New Hampshire with Governor Bush from July 1999 through the New Hampshire primary. Governor Bush used the bus as his campaign headquarters. During this time the bus was used by George Bush, Sr, Barbara Bush, Laura Bush, Jeb Bush, George P. Bush, and several other members of the Bush family. Many others rode on the bus in order to campaign for Governor Bush; for example, Elizabeth Dole, Judd Gregg, Jack Kemp, and Congressman Charles Bass. After the primary the bus supported the campaigning efforts of various Federal and state candidates, taking them throughout the state of New Hampshire in their bid for elected office. The last political event of the 2000 elections the bus attended was President Bush's inaugural parade.

After the 2000 election the bus has rested snuggly in its garage until the start of the 2002 season. Every candidate supported in 2002 won political office: Senator John Sununu, Representative Charles Bass, Representative Jeb Bradley, and Governor Craig Benson.
